I just rewatched BSG 2x18.
Some very interesting things out of 2x18 which we've discussed during Season 3 so far.
1) Boxing. The Three outright admits that they're thinking of boxing Boomer (who's stuck being Boomer and not an Eight).
2) The Three lumps in Caprica Six (C6) with Boomer as a waste - it's pretty clear she wanted to box C6 as well. It's not just Baltar's Avatar playing with C6's mind.
3) The only four people who know about Hera at that time are Rosyln, Roslyn's aid, Maya (adopted mother) and the doctor. Adama isn't there when the decision is made and isn't shown as knowing anything.
4) According to Avatar Six (A6) Hera's destiny is to lead the next generation of God's/Gods' Children.
5) Boomer and C6 have realised that vengeance, murder and genocide are Sins that's what the other Cylons are afraid of.
6) Boomer and C6's plan is to show the others a way to live without hate, without lies, in God's love.
7) What happened to Boomer? Did she go on the mission with C6? Was she one of the Eights wandering around New Caprica?
8) Based on the cars displayed in the parking garage, the tech was rather low. Sixties / Seventies ish looking at the cars. This kind of matches with some of the other tech we've seen so far - radar (aka draydes), the surgery on Athena and Adama, and the level of computer technology. This still clashes with jump drives and Battle Stars though.
So, relevance to Season 3 so far?
1) Adama isn't lieing to Athena and Helo re their child. He may have suspected that Rosyln had the child killed, but I very much doubt he knows about the substitution.
2) Hera's the future Cylon leader. Or so they think as of course they believe God's Children to be themselves.
3) Baltar's supposed to raise Hera. Perhaps that's his destiny on the Base Star - to provide Hera with some humanity. If he's human.
4) Projection. It's what C6 is doing with Avatar Baltar, it's what the Cylons do in their Base Star, it's what Baltar's doing with Avatar Six (A6). Does that make Baltar a Cylon? Or a human with Cylon abilities?
5) It was a pretty nasty explosion when they nuked Caprica which killed C6 and really should have killed Baltar. Is he a Cylon who was redownloaded? One of the five models the others don't talk about? Or was he just lucky in being sheltered from the direct blast?
Other things of huge interest out of 3x06:
That virus. Is it bacterial / viral? Or some other form of Cylon virus? How did the 13th colony know to leave a virus which affected Cylons? Or will it affect humans too, if they're exposed to it? If only Cylons, will it affect Athena on Galactica? Will the humans be forced to develop a cure for the Cylon disease in order to save Athena? Will they get themselves an incredibly deadly bio warfare weapon?
If it's Cylon specific, is that why the 13th fleet left separately - over a technology based issue - thus they left the viral warning, headed to Earth and established or devolved into a low-tech life?
The hybrids. Who don't get a vote, yet are the Base Star, somewhat like the Pilot out of Farscape as
shrydar put it.
The other 5 models!
C6 shakes head in a sad expressive kind of way.
C6: "I can't talk about that."
Baltar: "Can't or won't?"
C6: "I Can't. It's complicated but we don't talk about them, ever".
Much speculation abounds! Did the other 5 abandon the current 7 over the issue of the war? Or some other issue? Did the 7 abandon the 5? (The former is my preference based on the expression of the above dialogue, and as explained by
black_samvara). Do the 5 possibly believe in only one instance of each, re-downloading as required, but not spawning hundreds of the same models? Or do they believe in immersing themselves in humanity without realising they're cylons, until they can emotionally mature enough to come to grips with it?
WTF is with the Cylons deciding to make Earth their home? Are they sick of the 12 Colonies already? Or are they trying to one-up their Human creators in a show of sibling rivalry? Or is the Three just screwing with Baltar?
Speaking of the Three, Baltar and screwing, is she hitting on him or what?
Must have next episode! Must!

Date: 2006-11-07 09:32 am (UTC)Amusing, useful but they have their place...which is lower then the human form cylons.
Baltar can project because he's yet another human developing abilities that mesh with cylon abilities.
-Virus-3? stated that they all share a base genetic code...Who's genetic code? Was this created from scratch?
If created from scratch, why so similar. Also, who is the in between from centurion to humanform? The centurions don't hit me as being overly intelligent. So what exactly made that leap from basic model, to be able to concieve of its own existence to be able to recreate itself in its makers shape?
Could these be the 5 missing cylons? First tries? Or something else.
/random musings =D

My first comparison would be the way people regard computers.
After all, the Hybrid appears to be the machine controlling the Base Star.
Can you elaborate a little more? Which other humans and which other Cylon abilities are you comparing his projection to?
I'd assume a genetic pool based on the best on offer from the human population at the time, that they could get their hands on.
After all, one can't exactly send a Centurion to the nearest sperm bank to beg for donations...
Perhaps they used Prisoner of War DNA from the first war?
I assumed the Hybrids were that step.
Good point.
Something more intelligent than the Centurions, presumably whatever controlled the Centurions during the first war. A higher level of AI.
Indeed. So much we don't know but can wildly speculate on!
